EXECUTIVE MEMBER FOR RECREATION, HERITAGE AND COMMUNITIES

PART II

PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD FOR CULTURE - RUSHMOOR

1. Two years ago the Executive Member approved the establishment of a public service board for culture serving the area of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. The purpose of the board is to guide the development of a joint strategic approach to cultural provision in the Basingstoke area. Experience of joint working through the board has been very positive and effective, and it was always the intention to extend the partnership approach to other areas where it would be appropriate.

2. It has now been agreed that a similar public service board for culture should be established with the Rushmoor Borough Council. The purpose would similarly be to develop jointly a cultural strategy and to work on a partnership basis on the future of cultural services and facilities within the Borough. This is a welcome development which will maximise wellbeing and partnership working.
