NOAH'S ARK PRE-SCHOOL, KEMPSHOTT

1 PURPOSES FOR WHICH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS SOUGHT

Noah's Ark is a charity run preschool which was established in 1987. The pre-school is divided into two groups one aged between 2.6 & 3 yrs, the other between 3 and 4 years and currently has 75 children on its register.

The school currently has three computers, one for each of the above groups and one for administration purposes. A grant of £1,000 is being sought to provide internet access and computer games for the children. This sum would enable the school to buy the necessary equipment and fund the internet costs for a period of two years.

5 COMMENTS OF LOCAL MEMBER

Councillor Heath has been contacted regarding this application.

6 GENERAL COMMENTS

Director of Children's Services (Early Education and Childcare Unit): While there is some benefit to internet access for children it is unlikely that this age group could make full use of it.

My concern is that the school are seeking monies towards running costs which will need to be funded in future years. I would also like to see more involvement by other members of the community, e.g. an opportunity for Parent and Learning sessions.
