Summary |
1.1 |
The following decisions are sought: |
a) That the overall strategy to pursue the disposal of St Thomas' Centre, Winchester be approved; | |
b) the Acting Director of Property Business and Regulatory Services (Interim Head of Estates) be authorised to work with the current occupiers in order to facilitate their relocation to more suitable accommodation; and | |
c) a further report be submitted to the Executive Member for Policy & Resources early in 2009 on progress with the relocations and on outcomes from preliminary investigations into seeking alternative uses for the building. | |

2.1 |
This proposal meets all the Council's Corporate Priorities by improving safety and security of occupiers and visitors due to the deteriorating condition of the building; maximises their wellbeing through relocation of the occupiers to alternative accommodation, and enhances our quality of place through the sale, repair, refurbishment and conversion of the listed building. |

The option to retain the building and allow the existing occupiers to remain has been dismissed as it does not address the concerns of the occupiers nor the current condition of the building. |
