1 Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

1. That the Executive Member for Children and Families approve the Statement of Purpose for Hampshire County Council's Adoption Service.

2 Reason

2.1 This decision supports the following HCC priorities:

"Making Hampshire safer and more secure for all" and "Maximising well being" by ensuring that there is an approved basis for Hampshire to conduct its adoption work in line with regulatory requirements.

2.2 The decision supports the following Aims of the Children Act:

Staying Safe, by creating a framework within which adoptive placements can be planned and secured for children who cannot be brought up by their own parents, and who need a permanent new family.

3.1 It is a regulatory requirement to produce a Statement of Purpose.
