1. Summary
1.1 The following decisions are sought:
That tenders be invited for a Companion and Support Service in the New Forest, as follows:-
· People with a Learning Disability District wide.
· Older Persons and Younger Adults with Physical Disabilities, East New Forest.
· Older Persons and Younger Adults with Physical Disabilities, West New Forest.
All contracts to be for 2 years, with an option to extend for a further year.
That the existing contracts be extended for a period of three months, until 30 June 2009.
2. Reason
2.1 The proposals in this report have been formulated following an operational review of this service. Whilst individuals in receipt of service may potentially wish to purchase their own support in the future, it is anticipated there will be a need to maintain a care service for at least another two years. The proposed contract conditions will allow for the position to be reviewed regularly. The contract will also provide a voucher system to be introduced to allow recipients to book the service more flexibly.
3. Link to Corporate Strategy
3.1 This report supports the Corporate Strategy aims of Hampshire being safer and more secure for all and Maximising Wellbeing by improving the quality of life for adults and older people in receipt of the services and their carers.
