1) Summary

    The following decision was made:

1.1. That approval be given to the new Parking on Grass Verges, Footpaths and Pavements Policy Statement as set out in the appendix (as amended).

2) Reasons for the decision

2.1. At present Hampshire County Council has no formal policy regarding parking on grass verges, footpaths and pavements (footways).

2.2. The new framework will allow a consistent and fair response to be given to complaints about such issues.

2.3. The framework will assist in prioritising County Council resources in relation to handling such issues.

3) Other options considered and rejected:

3.1. The County Council could continue to deal with complaints about parking on grass verges, footpaths and pavements on an ad-hoc basis as they arise, However with the increasing incidence of such complaints, this could lead to increasing inconsistencies and inefficiencies in the way these complaints are handled and would do nothing to address growing community concern that the problems are not being taken seriously.

4) Conflicts of Interest:

4.1. Conflicts of interest declared by the decision-maker:

    None

4.2. Conflicts of interest declared by other Executive Members consulted:

    None

5) Dispensation granted by the Standards Committee:

    None

6) Any reasons for the matter being dealt with if urgent :

    None
