1) Summary |
The following decisions are proposed: |
1.1. That the project to refurbish Basingstoke Library and incorporate a new book self issue system at an estimated total cost of £377,000 subject to a contribution of £52,000 from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, be approved. 1.2. That £250,000 for the main library refurbishment be added to the Policy and Resources 2008/09 Capital programme. 1.3. That £75,000 for the Self Issue (RFID known as Fast Track) system be added to the Recreation and Heritage Capital Programme 2008/09. 1.4 That a refurbishment of the Citizens Advice Bureau(CAB), fully funded by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, be carried out in conjunction with the library refurbishment project, subject to confirmation from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and the CAB. |

2.1. The proposals will maximise well being and enhance our quality of place by improving Basingstoke library for the benefit of Hampshire residents. |

3.1. Option 1: To carry out no improvements to the library. 3.2. Option 2: To build a new Discovery Centre. 3.3. Option 3: To create a new Discovery Centre by extending the existing library. |
