Record of Executive Decision:

1) Summary:

The following decisions were made:

1.1. That the recommendation of the Select Committee in January 2008 to bring together all the County Council's outdoor education provision under a single point of management is not pursued at this time.

1.2. Minstead, Stubbington and Sparsholt Study Centres continue to be managed within the Children's Services department.

1.3. Further opportunities are explored to maximise the use of the Study Centres as part of the aim of maximising use of county assets.

2) Reasons for the decision:

These are the reasons for this decision being made, including any links to the corporate strategy:

2.1. Management arrangements currently in place are working well and joint working arrangements exist to maximise sharing of good practice.

2.2. The potential to explore extended operational use of the centres continues to be developed, recognising that there are some capacity limitations on use of residential facilities.

2.3. An evolutionary approach to the development of increased utilisation of the centres fits well with maximising opportunities for all.

3.1. Option 1:

a) All the centres are brought under the management of one department, either Recreation and Heritage or Children's Services.
