1) The Decision:

1.1. That the attached 2009-2014 management plans for two of Hampshire's Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Chichester Harbour and Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs, be adopted.

2) Reasons for the decision:

2.1. Hampshire County Council has a statutory duty under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act (CRoW) 2000, Part IV to prepare and publish Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) plans, in partnership with other relevant authorities, which formulate policy for the management of each AONB and for carrying out functions in relation to it. The management plans under consideration will ensure that Hampshire County Council meets its statutory duties.

2.2. The decision contributes towards the Enhancing our Quality of Place priority within the Corporate Strategy.

3) Other options considered and rejected:

    3.1. Option 1: non-adoption of the plans.

        a) Risk Assessment: This would leave the County Council in breach of the CRoW Act 2000 legislation and could damage the Council's reputation.

3.2. Option 2: substantial amendment of the plans.

        a) Risk Assessment: The County Council has been actively involved in the management plan review process within both organisations, and all of the amendments/suggestions requested have been made.

4) Conflicts of Interest:

4.1. Conflicts of interest declared by the Decision-Maker:

        a) None

4.2. Conflicts of interest declared by other Executive members consulted:

        a) None

5) Dispensation granted by the Standards Committee:
