1. Executive Summary

1.1. Standing Order 34 (b) requires the Council, at its Annual General Meeting, to appoint the Chairman and a Vice-Chairman for every committee of the Council, all of whom shall be members of the Council.

1.2. The Council has previously made appointments to the following, to which the chairmanship of the Audit Committee (replacing the Governance Committee) and the Members Allowances Scheme Panel have been added (Item 16 on the agenda refers.

1.3. Nominations are invited:-

    Policy and Resources Select Committee

    Children and Young People Select Committee

    Environment and Transportation Select Committee

    Culture and Communities Select Committee

    Safe and Healthy People Select Committee

    Health Overview and Scrutiny

    Audit Committee

    Standards Committee (NB: by virtue of the Local Government Act 2000 S53 (4), the Chairman of the Standards Committee cannot be a member of the County Council or any other relevant authority. The relevant process for appointing a Vice-Chairman will be confirmed at a future meeting).

2. Recommendation

2.1. That Chairmen and Vice Chairmen be appointed where considered necessary.
