1. The decision:

    a) That progress with the major projects identified in the report to the Buildings, Land and Procurement Panel on 30 June 2009 be noted.

    b) That Hampshire County Council staff be invited to propose suitable building names for the renaming of Elizabeth II Court and the newly refurbished north, west and east wings of Ashburton Court.

    c) That the new Auditorium be formally named Ashburton Hall in memory of Lord Ashburton.

2. Reason(s) for the decision:

2.1 In 1968, Lord Ashburton was the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire and High Steward of Winchester and in order to recognise his community dedication, the County Council formally named the buildings on Sussex Street as Ashburton Court. The newly refurbished buildings will in future be named Queen Elizabeth II Court (North, West and East) to help visitors to the Castle Complex with orientation and directions. However to retain the connection to Lord Ashburton it is proposed that the auditorium is named "Ashburton Hall".

3. Conflicts of interest:

3.1. Conflicts of interest declared by the decision-maker: none

3.2. Conflicts of interest declared by other Executive Members consulted: none

4. Other options considered and rejected:
