38. HONORARY ALDERMEN.
The Chairman referred to the Leader of the Council's announcement at the County Council meeting on 16 July 2009 to propose conferring Honorary Alderman status to ex-members listed in the Summons. Members had signified their support for this. To comply with the requirements of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council was asked to formally confirm its agreement at this Special Meeting and this was given without dissent. Accordingly Councillor Ken Thornber, C.B.E. presented his report and it was
RESOLVED:
That in recognition of the eminent service that they had rendered to the Council over many years, the Office of Honorary Alderman be conferred on former County Councillors Patricia Banks; Michael Cartwright; Patricia Devereux; Ted Gale, M.B.E.; Peter Hutcheson; Jo Kelly and Michael Woodhall and that their names be admitted to the Roll of Honour of Honorary Aldermen of Hampshire County Council.
The Leader also proposed that the title of Honorary Alderman be conferred on former Councillors Mrs Pamela Peskett and John Wall at a future meeting of the County Council.
The meeting closed at 10.20 am.
