Liz Blake welcomed all to the school and introduced the officers from Hampshire County Council.

HCC officers delivered a brief presentation on the reasons for the proposed amalgamation, the processes and the timescales. The procedures for the appointment of head teacher and staff were outlined as far as possible at this early stage.

The following questions were asked by the staff.

    1. I support this proposed amalgamation, but would like to know what will happen to the administrative and caretaking staff.

    2. Is there a possibility that we all might have to apply for our own positions?

    3. Some of us are on yearly contracts. How long might this continue?

    4. What happens to ensure the quality of education for the young people while the building is being constructed?

    5. Will the pre-school be kept? We currently turn away 10 to 15 applications a year because we are full.

    6. How will the governors be chosen for the temporary governing body?

    7. What happened to the Meadowlands in their amalgamation?

    8. Will a new governing body want to appoint a different set of skills on the staff?

    9. Will part time staff be required to change their hours or even be made redundant?

Officers answered each of these questions in turn.
