1. The decision:

a) That the proposed County Council response to the draft New Forest National Park Management Plan be approved.

b) That authority to respond to the forthcoming New Forest National Park Local Development Framework Core Strategy be delegated to the Director of Environment in consultation with the Leader and the Executive Member for Environment.

2. Reason for the decision:

2.1. The New Forest National Park is a highly sensitive area of Hampshire, in environmental, economic and social terms. Its future management relies on achieving a delicate balance between these different interests. The County Council has a wide range of statutory duties within the National Park and has a major role to play in delivering National Park objectives. It is therefore considered to be important that a formal response is made to the draft National Park Management Plan (available in the Members' Room and on the following link: http://www.newforestnpa.gov.uk/nfnpa_326_09_annex_1_management_plan.pdf).

3. Other options considered and rejected:

3.1. Not to comment on the Management Plan. This was rejected as the County Council has a major role to play in the future of the New Forest.
