1. The decision:

a) That approval be given to grants and subscriptions being awarded to those organisations listed in this report for 2010/11.

b) That revised distribution of funding to support volunteering activity be agreed.

c) That approval be given to the proposal to include Members in future monitoring of grants to Infrastructure bodies.

d) That the criteria in awarding grants from this budget be agreed for the ensuing year.

2. Reason(s) for the decision:

2.1 The County Council recognises the value of working with voluntary and community organisations and the contribution they make to help the County Council deliver its aims and objectives. The role of the County Council in supporting and helping to build capacity in the sector is essential in providing an environment for a thriving third sector which is one of the targets set within the Local Area Agreement.

3. Other options considered and rejected:

3.1 Not to agree the grants. This would have a detrimental impact on the Council's ability to support smaller voluntary organisations who provide valuable services to local communities.
