1. The decision:
a) That approval be given to the disposal of 0.29ha (0.71acres) of land adjoining Romsey Primary School to the purchaser named in this report and that should this not proceed, to the next highest shortlisted bidder who can proceed on a basis which meets the requirements of the County Council and the local planning authority.
b) That the Director Property, Business and Regulatory Services (Strategic Manager - Assets and Development) be authorised to approve the detailed terms and conditions, including any adjustments to the purchase price that may be agreed in the event that the scheme needs to be modified.
2. Reasons for the decision:
2.1. The site is surplus to County Council requirements.
2.2. The proposed transaction will result in a capital receipt from the disposal of this surplus asset.
2.3. The proposal will support the following Corporate Priorities:
_ Enhancing our quality of place by allowing a redevelopment of the site with new homes in a manner which contributes positively to the local environment.
_ Making Hampshire safer and more secure for all, by helping young people to live positive lives by providing part of the funding for the improved school premises to help give them the best start possible through our education system.
3. Other options considered and rejected:
3.1. Retention of the site. However, the proposals retain a site for Romsey Primary School of approximately 2.4 hectares (5.9 acres, which is meets the full educational requirements including a playing field.
