1 Purpose of Report:
1.1. The attached report was approved by the Executive Lead Member for Children's Services at his meeting on 17 December 2009. It is presented here to provide members of the Panel with information on Hampshire's response to proposed changes in the primary curriculum.
2 Additional information:
2.1. Since the attached report was published, confirmation has been received from the Secretary of State that all recommendations from the Independent Review of the National Curriculum have been accepted. This means that a new curriculum will be implemented in all primary schools from September 2011. All primary schools will have an additional training day, to be taken during 2010, to support the implementation of this new curriculum. This academic year, a total of 164 schools in Hampshire were inspected by Ofsted. Schools receive an overall judgement, when they are inspected, of outstanding, good, satisfactory or inadequate. Schools judged to be inadequate overall are served with a Notice to Improve or placed in Special Measures.
