Discover free courses that can help you to develop the skills and confidence to find work.

Hampshire County Council offers adult tailored learning courses across the county and online that will support you to:

  • learn a new skill
  • support your child's learning
  • develop the confidence and skills to progress towards further learning or employment
  • gain essential skills (English, ESOL, maths and digital)
  • improve your physical and mental wellbeing
  • develop stronger and more sustainable communities

Free courses are subject to personal circumstances and eligibility.

Eligibility

Courses are free for Hampshire residents aged 19+ who have lived in the UK for 3 years and meet the residency and eligibility criteria. These include applications from:

  • adults age 19+ without a full level 2 qualification
  • individuals in receipt of employment, housing or support benefits
  • families/individuals with a gross annual income of less than £25,000
  • families with school age children in receipt of free school meals/pupil premium
  • adults who have a learning difficulty and/or disability
  • adults who are at risk of, or have mental health needs
  • Hampshire care leavers/foster carers
  • veterans

Funding

Hampshire County Council’s adult tailored learning (ATL) provision is funded by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).

I have found the course very beneficial and it has helped me prepare for the next steps in future career plans.

Living with chronic cancer related health issues, I have found being able to immerse myself in art really lifts my mood and sense of wellbeing.

Courses

Our Hampshire adult tailored learning course offer includes face to face delivery at local venues such as community centres, libraries, schools, children’s centres, and village halls across Hampshire as well as online programmes.

Courses include:

  • employability courses to support learners into work or volunteering
  • essential skills in English, maths and digital skills
  • English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)
  • parenting and childcare
  • supporting health and wellbeing
  • budgeting and money management
  • green energy, upcycling and / or developing sustainability
  • arts and crafts to support mental wellbeing
