Who this strategy is for

This strategy applies to maintained schools for which Hampshire County Council is the responsible body and provides the strategic framework to support the development of local Accessibility Plans.

All schools, including academies and free schools, are required under the Equality Act 2010 to publish an Accessibility Plan, and settings are encouraged to align their plans with the priorities set out in this strategy.

While not all early years and post-16 providers are required to publish an Accessibility Plan, they remain responsible for making reasonable adjustments to ensure children and young people with disabilities can access and participate fully in education.

This web page should be read alongside the full downloadable Accessibility Strategy, which provides further detail on the legal framework, responsibilities and implementation expectations.
