Ensembles
We are proud to run over 60 instrumental and vocal ensembles across the county. From Taiko drumming to Symphony Orchestras; Jazz and Soul bands to ukuleles; we offer a wide range of musical experiences for ages, abilities, and genres.
Our expert team of ensemble leaders runs a network of Area ensemble pyramids spread across the towns and cities of Hampshire. From young musicians who have just begun their musical journey, to those who are applying for conservatoires, we aim to have quality ensemble opportunities accessible within a reasonable journey from their home.
Those who reach the higher levels of playing can apply for membership of our five highly regarded county ensemble pyramids: the youth choirs, orchestras, brass bands, wind ensembles and jazz centre. These groups hold annual residential courses and regularly perform in top quality venues in the UK - such as the Royal Albert Hall - and abroad, also accessing expertise from top sectional tutors and playing alongside professional ensembles.
This is an exciting time to join our team, to be able to inspire like-minded young musicians, playing and performing in fantastic venues!
Rock 2 the Beat and Beyond the Beat
R2tb and Btb are our new exciting new provisions that allow teachers to engage young people in music in an exciting and innovative way. Delivered in schools, these programmes approach musical learning through small ensemble and band experiences. Students in years 4 - 6 come together to participate in small group sessions led by an inspiring instrumental specialist along with wider group sessions that encourage a love of performing. These culminate in concerts which allow the students to experience the thrill of showcasing their skills on stage.
Joining our R2tB team or BtB team is your opportunity to engage young people with your passion for music, to help them excel in their band or ensemble setting. It is amazing to come together and share that love of playing together, that is what makes Rock 2 the Beat and Beyond the Beat really special.
