Land supply

Each year, the County Council with colleagues from district councils and Portsmouth and Southampton City Councils undertake detailed surveys of the supply of land for:

  • housing
  • industry and offices
  • retail and leisure
Housing land supply

The housing land supply survey is undertaken in the spring with a base date of 1 April. Sites capable of accommodating ten or more dwellings are provided with an estimate of their future rates of completion.

Industrial land and office floorspace

The industrial land supply survey is undertaken in the Spring with a base date of 1 April. The survey includes all sites with a gross floorspace gain of more than 200 square metres.

Enterprise M3 commercial property market study

The study, prepared for the LEP by its Land & Property Action Group, is a major analysis of employment land (sites and premises) across the Enterprise M3 area. It is aimed at helping the LEP get a clearer understanding of the characteristics of the commercial property market in the M3 corridor.

Research and other studies

In December 2021, the County Council published a study of ‘Strategic housing delivery on 4 key sites in Winchester District 1980-2020’. The study provides observations on matters that have impacted on four strategic housing sites in Winchester District in the period 1980 though to 2020.

In November 2021 the County Council published Housing delivery trends in Hampshire 2000-2020: Analysis of key trends on sites of 100-399 dwellings which utilises historic data to inform ongoing discussions relating to the delivery of housing in Hampshire on sites of 100-399 in size.
