Register of applications

Applications made under section 53(5) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 to modify the definitive map.

The County Council maintains a register of applications to modify the definitive map and statement. The definitive map and statement is the record of public rights of way. A definitive map modification order can add a right of way of any status (footpath, bridleway, restricted byway or byway open to all traffic). It can also modify a route already recorded on the definitive map or statement.

The register shows applications that are awaiting investigation. It also shows ones we have already considered and determined. Where the decision was made to make an order, the register will show if that order has been confirmed. Where an application was refused, the register will also show the outcome of any appeal against that decision.

The register lists all applications that have been received by the County Council. You can use the search bar to look for a specific application. Use the filters to narrow your search for an application in a particular parish, or at a particular stage, e.g. under investigation.

We deal with applications in date order. We may process some applications out of turn in accordance with our policy.
