We at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens are deeply saddened by the passing of John Hillier, a visionary plantsman and cherished friend. John’s life was woven into the very fabric of these Gardens.
From his early days at Jermyn's House, to his to his invaluable contributions on our Advisory Panel, his tireless advocacy for excellence in horticulture has left an enduring legacy. His daily walks through the arboretum, come rain or shine, were a quiet reflection of his lifelong love for plants. Often seen with his trusty secateurs in hand, John would lend a helping hand to the gardening team! Stories would be shared and friendly advice given.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family. John's spirit will continue in every corner of the Gardens he helped nurture and grow.
