Tony Spencer

Tony Spencer is a visual artist based at The Yard Studios in Winchester.

He works in the mediums of sculpture, sound installation and Mokuhanga Japanese woodblock printmaking. He studied a BA in Fine Art Sculpture at Northumbria University and a Postgraduate Degree in Gallery Curating at Newcastle University.

He is currently studying an MA in Art Psychotherapy at the University of Derby.

Artist statement

The Witch Hazel, a magical shrub, adds a captivating touch to the winter scenery. Its yellow flowers release a spellbinding fragrance, combining spices with a sweet honey scent that captivates the senses. Similar to the illustrious Witch Glinda from the fabled Wizard of Oz, Spencer’s sculpture depicts the Witch Hazel as a paragon of elegance, allure, and timeless wisdom.
