Latest updates - Planned Night-Time Investigation Highway Works

Hampshire County Council has appointed Milestone Infrastructure Ltd to carry out investigatory highway works on Allbrook Hill and Twyford Road.

Works start on 14July for two nights. Permitted Working Hours: Road closure at 8pm and re-opened each morning at 6am.

A road closure will be in place during these times at the Allbrook Hill and Allbrook Way Roundabout, between the A335 Allbrook Way / Twyford Road and the Pitmore Road junction. Between Twyford Road and Woodside Avenue. Access to The Paddock will remain open from the Twyford Road side.

The following investigation works will be undertaken;

  • Trial holes. small holes dug in the ground to check what the material is made of. This helps plan roadworks and repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Drainage jetting (cleansing).
  • CCTV inspection of existing drainage systems.

Please visit Causeway one.network for the diversion routes, the exact location of the works and traffic management.

Residents will still be able to access properties on Allbrook Hill via the Pitmore Road end (where a gateman will be on site to manage access), while residents on Twyford Road can access their properties by approaching from the south.

The works will generate some construction noise however every effort will be made to reduce disturbance and complete the noisiest activities by 11pm each night. The works and the closure of the road are taking place at night to minimise disruption and keep the road open during the day.

Scheme Overview
Enhance pedestrian amenities at the Allbrook Hill and Allbrook Way roundabout to ensure safer and more convenient walking routes. The scheme proposal includes introducing a new uncontrolled crossing on Twyford Road.  Works expected to commence autumn/winter 2025.
Funding Arrangements
Funding for the transport capital delivery schemes is separate from the County Council’s revenue budget and savings proposals. In the majority of cases funding comes from external grants and / or Section 106 contribution from developers. This funding usually has conditions that strictly control on how, where and when it can be spent.
