The improvements would make walking and cycling safer and could encourage more active lifestyles for residents, including more vulnerable road users. In particular, the scheme at the junction of Bramley Lane and Sherfield Road would ensure that cars are restricted to the road, building the confidence of those walking locally that they will not encounter a vehicle on the footway. Likewise, the Minchens Lane scheme may encourage people to cycle and make use of the NCN 23, as there will be less conflict with other road users.
Investigation works took place on Thursday 13 February for two days. The planned investigation works included; trial holes; workers will drill small holes in the road to take out samples. These samples help them understand the road’s condition, ground penetrating radar survey to identify underground utilities and vegetation clearance. - Frequently Asked Questions

- Funding Arrangements
-
Funding for the transport capital delivery schemes is separate from the County Council’s revenue budget and savings proposals. In the majority of cases funding comes from external grants and / or Section 106 contribution from developers. This funding usually has conditions that strictly control on how, where and when it can be spent.
