Hampshire County Council and Rushmoor Borough Council are working to develop proposals for travel improvements along an 8km corridor connecting Farnborough, North Camp and Aldershot.
This corridor runs from Empress Avenue in the north (near Farnborough Sixth Form College) along the A325 past Farnborough Town Centre and along B3403 Alexandra Road/ Queens Avenue through North Camp, Wellesley and Aldershot Town centre to the B3007 Weybourne Road in the south.
We will be developing proposals for a north to south high-quality walking and cycling route, designed to be continuous, high quality and feel safe. Where buses get delayed by congestion, we will identify bus priority measures to improve bus journey time reliability and seek to reduce bus journey times in these locations.
One aim for these travel improvements is that measures should encourage people to leave the car at home. With better provision, more people will choose to walk or cycle, particularly for shorter trips or use the bus services, instead of using the car.
At this stage we would like to better understand people’s experiences of walking, wheeling and cycling and using the bus along this corridor. We will then use this feedback to help develop proposals.
- Funding Arrangements
- Funding for the transport capital delivery schemes is separate from the County Council’s revenue budget and savings proposals. In the majority of cases funding comes from external grants and / or Section 106 contribution from developers. This funding usually has conditions that strictly control on how, where and when it can be spent.
