Friarsgate Toucan Crossing, Winchester
Supporting healthier lifestyle choices.
Last update: September 2026
- Scheme Overview
-
Hampshire County Council, worked with Winchester City Council and has converted the existing Puffin crossing at Friarsgate (B3331), near Middle Brook Street in Winchester, into a Toucan crossing. The scheme will improve the crossing for people who walk, cycle or wheel (e.g. mobility scooters and wheelchairs). Please see the location plan.
The works completed in September 2026. Please see the completed scheme visuals.
- Funding Arrangements
- Funding for the transport capital delivery schemes is separate from the County Council’s revenue budget and savings proposals. In the majority of cases funding comes from external grants and / or Section 106 contribution from developers. This funding usually has conditions that strictly control on how, where and when it can be spent.
