Rownhams Lane Pedestrian Improvements

Improve pedestrian accessibility

Last update: February 2025

Scheme overview

The proposal for this scheme is to upgrade the existing school crossing patrol point near Hoe Lane junction. It will look to encourage traffic to slow down through implementing a road narrowing / pinch point, with this also reducing the crossing distance for pedestrians. The road will be have new road markings and resurfaced.

The works will seek to make crossing at the current location safer and more accessible for pedestrians and improve walkability in the local area.  Please view the location plan.

Works expected to start Summer 2025.

Funding Arrangements
Funding for the transport capital delivery schemes is separate from the County Council’s revenue budget and savings proposals. In the majority of cases funding comes from external grants and / or Section 106 contribution from developers. This funding usually has conditions that strictly control on how, where and when it can be spent.
Roadworks and Travel Advice
