Woodside Avenue Proposals
Improving Woodside Avenue to create a safer, more accessible route for people walking, wheeling, and cycling, shaped by feedback from the local community.

Walk Wheel Cycle Trust is working with Hampshire County Council to design street proposals for a section of Woodside Avenue between Leigh Road and Goodwood Road, which forms a part of National Cycle Network route 23 in Eastleigh. The proposed improvements will make it safer and easier to use for walking, wheeling (e.g. mobility scooters and wheelchairs), or cycling.
We invited local residents, organisations, and businesses to share their feedback on the initial design ideas. The survey closed on 24 March 2026. Walk, Wheel, Cycle Trust held two drop‑in events on 16 and 18 March 2026 at local venues, which gave people the opportunity to speak with the project team and find out more about the proposals.
You can still view the proposals which is split into two sections (please allow upto five minutes for these to load);
Please visit Walk Wheel Cycle Trust project webpage (external website) to see further details on this proposal. - Scheme Overview
-
Woodside Avenue connects homes with schools, workplaces, shops, parks, and leisure spots — and links to National Cycle Network route 24 for access to Eastleigh train station and Fleming Park. By making this section safer and easier to use, we will improve the experience of those already using this route, whilst encouraging more people to walk, wheel (e.g. mobility scooters and wheelchairs), or cycle — whether for their whole journey or as part of a trip using trains or buses.
- Funding Arrangements
-
Funding for the transport capital delivery schemes is separate from the County Council’s revenue budget and savings proposals. In the majority of cases funding comes from external grants and / or Section 106 contribution from developers. This funding usually has conditions that strictly control on how, where and when it can be spent.
