Key dates for prospective County Councillors

Induction for Members

A formal induction programme will be provided to all elected Members, beginning with an event on Monday 11 May, at the County Council offices in Winchester. It is important that all elected Members attend the event to sign their Declaration of Acceptance of Office.

The induction is an important part of supporting newly elected Members to carry out their community leadership role. It covers a wide range of subjects and topics, including corporate governance, standards and ethics, safeguarding and data protection policies, service-specific information and key contacts to enable newly elected Members to fulfil their role.

Member Briefing Programme

The induction will be followed by regular Member briefings. These half day briefings, held remotely using Microsoft Teams, provide Members with an opportunity to explore and discuss policy and topical issues directly with the officers involved. There is an informal atmosphere where questions can be raised and Members' views sought.

The next briefings are scheduled for 13 and 20 May and 5 and 12 of June. They will cover key information to assist newly elected Councillors in their role.

Council meetings

The County Council's Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 21 May at 10am.

Information on all formal County Council meetings is available on the calendar of meetings.
