Chief Executive

The Chief Executive leads Hampshire County Council's staff, and the strategic vision set out by the County Council's elected Leader, mobilising strategies, plans and policies to ensure it is successful. The Chief Executive holds the responsibility for major organisational decisions, manages an annual budget of £3.3 billion and leads a workforce of over 11,000 employees directly (and many more indirectly, including via hundreds of Hampshire schools) who deliver a wide range of services to over 1.4 million residents.

Responsibilities

  • Head of Paid Service.
  • Leads the strategic management and direction of Hampshire County Council, responsible to the council through its elected Leader.
  • Hampshire County Council's principal advisor on matters of general policy.
  • Provides impartial advice and guidance to all elected Members.
  • Governs the organisation, including ensuring appropriate controls, policies and processes to support decision making and corporate compliance.
