Become an Enterprise Adviser
Working with local schools or colleges, Enterprise Advisers raise aspirations, support young people in making informed career choices and shape their futures
Enterprise Advisers are business professionals who volunteer their time to help bridge the gap between the world of work and education. They work with careers advisors and wider senior leaders of the school or college to create opportunities for young people.
Our aim is for every school and college in our region to be matched with an Enterprise Adviser by the end of the 2025 academic year. The Enterprise Advisers in our network have already made a huge difference to the lives of young people across Hampshire and we would love you to join us.
It's important to ensure that we minimise the NEET (not in employment, education or training) exit from secondary education. Education is not simply for education's sake - it’s a means to an end, not an end in itself.
I see my role as an Enterprise Adviser as addressing a macro issue in a micro way - one student at a time as everyone is different.
Benefits to becoming an Enterprise Adviser include:
- undertaking strategic planning in a new context
- developing your skills in communication and strategy development
- supporting your local school or college to deliver world class careers guidance to their students
- building strong working relationships with your local school or college and providing insight into your organisation and industry
- joining a national and local network to develop your own skills
- giving back to your local community
- better understanding the education sector and the challenges faced
