Water Management
Our specialists have many years of experience providing drainage designs for highways, development and building projects. We provide flood alleviation advice, design, and risk assessments, to arrive at practical drainage mitigation measures that meet the latest standards and current planning requirements. We also advise on water re-use (rain gardens, grey water re-use, blue roof tech and tree pit flow attenuation). We use our technical expertise and delivery frameworks to deliver cost-effective and sustainable drainage infrastructure.
We take a holistic approach, considering the whole water catchment area coordinating our work closely with other disciplines and partners, including the Water Authorities and the Environment Agency at a National and Regional level. Where models are more complex, we draw on our strategic partner contracts to scope, plan and undertake detailed hydrogeological models. We use industry recognised software such as Innovyze MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, Flood Modeller and HEC-RAS. We implement GIS-linked databases for improved data management.
Our expertise includes:
- Compiling technical standards for drainage design
- Design of sustainable drainage infrastructure - planning, feasibility, design, procurement, and construction – in urban and rural catchments
- Assessing the risk and impact of flooding, and advising on surface water and groundwater mitigation measures and the development of flood alleviation solutions
- Technical support to the Lead Local Flood Authority and Highway Authority including assessing planning applications and designs, and technical checking of Ordinary Watercourse Consent applications
