Daniel Randell
Building Surveyor
I joined Hampshire County Council’s Property Services department as a Degree Apprentice in October 2017 with the ambition of becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor. I completed a 5-year university degree at Portsmouth University attending one day a week, whilst completing my RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) alongside this. A year after obtaining my first-class honours degree, I successfully passed my APC to become a Chartered Building Surveyor.
I currently work within the Isle of Wight and Voluntary-Aided Schools team which involves completing a variety of projects on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council and Diocesan schools. I undertake work to a variety of unique schools and buildings, some of which were constructed in the 1850s. I have recently completed a small classroom extension to St Faith’s Primary School in Winchester and also a large re-roofing scheme of a pitched roof at Carisbrooke Primary School on the Isle of Wight.
Since completing my Chartership, I now mentor new degree apprentices who are starting their journey with the County Council and help them gain the experience and knowledge they need. I enjoy the variety of my role and projects that I work on. I have also benefited from receiving high quality support from in-house building professionals that have helped me get to where I am now.
