Building Surveyor

Portrait of James Morgan

I have worked at Hampshire County Council for a number of years, originally joining the Estate Management Team after studying Estate Management. I have always had an interest in building and construction and successfully obtained a 2:1 degree in Building Surveying, studying during evenings and weekends. This gave me the opportunity to work as a contract administrator on a one-year secondment and move on to provide building surveying support for the Rural Estates Team. From here, I then moved over to my present role where I work as a Reactive Maintenance Surveyor.

As a Reactive Maintenance Surveyor, I now work in a very fast paced environment where I provide help and support to properties such as schools, country parks, offices, and farms. Working at Hampshire County Council has afforded me the opportunity to work with a variety of different teams and exposed me to all the services we help to support.

Our team works fastidiously to ensure we keep sites open and fully operational following defects being reported. No day is ever the same and I enjoy the daily challenge of helping to resolve whatever issue should arise.

I am currently being supported by the vast array of professional staff employed at Hampshire County Council in gaining professional accreditation as a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Building.
