Building Surveyor

Portrait of Kevin Woodcock

Before joining Hampshire County Council, I worked in construction for over 30 years in various roles, from working on tools, to supervising construction projects, and progressing to site manager on large construction projects. I also achieved a Diploma in Construction Site Management – Building and Civil Engineering. I then felt I was ready for a new challenge, so in 2019, I joined Property Services as a Building Surveyor Supervisor.

As part of my role, I am responsible for setting priorities for the building surveyors within my team, with the overall aim of ensuring the delivery of a high standard of service. I manage a variety of properties including those used by the fire service, police, schools, care homes and Hampshire County Council buildings. I undertake financial audits and quality audits on completed work, ensuring Health and Safety policies are adhered to throughout all projects. I also oversee structural repairs to ensure all work is carried out in a cost effective and timely fashion.

I enjoy my role at Hampshire County Council as it is varied and no two days are the same. Looking forward, I am working towards achieving my full Chartered Membership with the Chartered Institute of Building.
