Mark Trudgeon

Lead for Property Intelligence and Asset Data

Portrait of Mark

I left school at 16 wanting to get a job and be paid to train at the same time. I undertook a Student Apprenticeship with Drake and Scull Engineering (now EMCOR) and completed a BTEC HNC in Building Services Engineering.

I worked on a wide variety of larger engineering projects including electrical project manager for a new Theatre Block at St. Mary’s Hospital, Portsmouth and was part of the team involved in the rebuilding of the fire damaged Grade 1 listed Uppark House in West Sussex for the National Trust.

After subsequently joining a local consultant I then joined Hampshire County Council in 1995, first on secondment and then permanently from 1997 as an Electrical Design Engineer. I am now a Team Leader in Property Management and my team provide a diverse range of professional services ranging from Property Data, updating of CAD record drawings, fire safety and professional advice and surveys for a wide variety of internal and external clients. These include Children’s Services, Adult Services, Hampshire Constabulary, Hampshire Trading Standards, and Client Affairs Services.

The variety of work we deal with on a day to day basis is huge and makes my job really interesting. I love making a positive contribution to the community I live in and find it very rewarding serving the people of Hampshire.

I work daily with a wide variety of colleagues from different professional disciplines. It is a long way from electrical engineering I started in, which provided me the base skills and training I use every day.
