Apprenticeship Awards 2018, left to right: Josh, Abbie, Mia, Dan

In October our team were recognised at the Hampshire County Council Apprenticeship Awards 2018.

Held at the Great Hall in Winchester, these awards are the County Council’s annual opportunity to celebrate the success of Apprentices and congratulate the teams, departments and partner organisations who have supported them.

A year ago, we welcomed our first Degree Apprentices to Property Services. Josh and Dan joined us as Building Surveyor Degree Apprentices – leading the way in this pioneering new scheme, with HCC being one of the first organisations to recruit to it. Both were nominated in the Higher Apprenticeship Award category, with Dan Highly Commended and Josh, Winner!

Mia joined Property Services as an Apprentice Building Surveyor and has now been promoted to become a Trainee Building Surveyor. She continues to be supported by the council and is undertaking a part-time Building Surveying degree course in London. Mia was shortlisted in the Advanced Apprenticeship Category.

In the Intermediate Apprentice category, Abbie, who is part of our Business Support team was Highly Commended.

Congratulations to all those who were nominated and who took part. We were thrilled to be a part of these awards and delighted to have had such a successful night!

Apprenticeships combine paid and relevant surveying work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills, together with a day release on a part time honours degree. The combination of working and studying gives young people the opportunity to develop their careers, as well as achieve chartered status in five years.
