The works at West End Arts Centre consisted of upgrading the lighting to Light Emitting Diodes (LED) as part of the County Council’s energy performance programme.
Being an entertainment and arts venue, West End Arts Centre required a more flexible approach to lighting than with a commercial or educational building such as an office or school.
With the exception of the art studios, the main spaces at the Centre are multifunctional. This means that they require different lighting options depending on the time of day and those using the space. For instance the foyer is used by sewing groups during the day and as a bar and breakout space for evening entertainment.
In order to provide such contrast, it was agreed to install both pendants to help create a more intimate feel for evening productions and spotlights to brighten the space for daytime use. All fittings are connected in groups and benefit from a dimming control to allow a very flexible and usable space, therefore enhancing the customer experience.Location: West End Arts Centre, Aldershot
