How to apply

Before applying you will need to confirm:

  • I have read and understood the eligibility criteria and wish to submit an application form
  • Myself and my child have read and understood the Code of Conduct. We understand that in making an application we are agreeing to adhere to the document
Important updates affecting Year R and Year 3
Please note the following: policy changes effective from September 2019
Year R – policy changes

Year R pupils will only be offered transport assistance from the term following their fifth birthday.

For the 2019/20 school year, parents/carers can buy a seat for the terms before and including their child’s fifth birthday. To do this, parents/carers must submit a privilege transport form for the terms they are not eligible for transport assistance, as well as a standard application form for the terms they are eligible.

Year 3 – policy changes

New Year 3 pupils who live more than two miles but less than three miles from school will lose eligibility for Hampshire County Council funded transport on their eighth birthday.

For the 2019/20 school year, parents/carers can buy the seat for the rest of the school year. To do this, parents/carers must submit a privilege transport form for the rest of the year, as well as a standard application form for the days that they are eligible.

The Council cannot guarantee the same commitment for later years and a privilege seat may not be available to buy for the days your child is not eligible for transport assistance.

Appeal a refused application

If your application is refused but you feel there are extenuating circumstances then you can request that your case be considered as an exception to policy. Such requests must be submitted in writing by sending an email to school.transport.cse@hants.gov.uk. You must be prepared to provide any necessary evidence to support your case.

If your child is offered transport assistance as an exception to policy then you must pay a contribution towards the cost of transport. The Home to School Transport Entitlement policy outlines the schedule of charges applicable for exceptional arrangements.

If the refusal is upheld you may appeal the decision. For more information about the appeals process, see the Home to School Transport Entitlement policy.
