Graduate Entry Training Scheme (GETS) for Newly Qualified Social Workers

Our pioneering two-year Graduate Entry Training Scheme (GETS) offers Newly Qualified Social Workers the opportunity to accelerate their learning and experience in an Outstanding Local Authority. GETS is unique to Hampshire County Council and will afford you an insight into the structure and practice of an Outstanding service provider.

What makes our programme so exclusive is that we recognise you want to be fully prepared and empowered, with the skills and confidence you need to enter the challenging world of frontline social work.

This means that after your initial Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE), you will benefit from a further full year of continued, structured learning and development with additional support.

Year 1: Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE):

  • You will have your own dedicated Practice Educator who will be allocated to you for the complete two-year programme, supporting you alongside your Team Manager
  • Capped caseloads increasing in complexity as you progress through the year
  • Be part of a cohort of other NQSWs
  • A full four-week induction
  • 22 development days
  • Bespoke Legal Training

Year 2: Professional Development Year: Elevate your skills and confidence

  • Continued Practice Educator support to build on the knowledge and skills gained during your ASYE with tailored learning opportunities
  • Further develop your social work career with ongoing support and training including seven key training sessions
  • Reduced caseloads
  • Practice Educator led reflective supervisions
  • Remain linked to your cohort, network and grow together with opportunities to share your learning and experiences with a wider network of peers. Rely on their support as you advance in your career.
