Steady and Strong Dance

Classes supporting older adults to regain and maintain their strength and balance

Steady and Strong logo

Steady and Strong Dance classes combine specific exercises proven to prevent falls and improve strength and balance, with the creativity and energy of dance.

Our Steady and Strong Dance instructors are all experienced in teaching movement classes to older people, and you don’t need prior dance or exercise experience. Movements will be done both seated and standing.

Steady and Strong Dance classes are suitable for adults who meet all of the following points:

  • Are able to walk around their own home without use of a walking aid.
  • Are able to go out and about without physical assistance from another person.
  • Are able to take a backwards step without concern and turn 180 degrees without requirement for external support.
  • Have not had a recent injurious fall, frequent falls in the last 6 months, or an unexplained fall (loss of consciousness).
  • Are not awaiting a GP appointment or follow up of an uncontrolled condition, or a physiotherapy assessment or treatment plan.

If you're not quite ready for a Steady and Strong Dance class, please take a look at the Steady and Strong exercise classes, or look out for our new 'Steady and Strong With Music' classes.
