Financial Assessment Annual Review

Each year in the lead up to benefit changes we complete an annual review of your financial assessment and notify you of the revised weekly amount.

Calculations

You can find out more about how and what we use to calculate how much people pay towards their care and support on: Financial assessment (Hampshire County Council).

Calculation change

Your assessable income is the amount that is left after standard outgoings are paid for and an allowance is made for general living costs such as food, utility bills and clothes. This could result in you paying more for your care and support.

Bills

The new charges will take affect from in contribution 6 April 2026, this means your bill for care and support for April will contain the new charges.

Invoices based on your maximum contribution will be applied to your account every four weeks. These invoices are raised in arrears and you can choose to pay them upon receipt or arrange a direct debit payment plan to spread the cost over the financial year. For further information please review the Understanding your care invoice web page.

If you cannot afford to pay your bill

If you cannot afford to pay your bill you should contact the County Council as soon as possible: Make an enquiry.

You can also seek independent financial advice regarding paying for care:

‘Charge – To Pay Now’

If your invoice says ‘Charge – To Pay Now’, this means that this is the revised new weekly charge that you will need to pay going forward and that you will be invoiced for.

It does not mean you have to pay that amount now; it will be the new charge on your next invoice.
