Rhododendron Woodland

This is the home of most of the Gardens' collection of Rhododendrons.

There are largely hybrids to the west and species to the east. The roadside at the eastern end is lined with a striking array of deciduous azaleas. During May their vibrant colours and powerful fragrance attract passers-by.

At the Gardens we have approximately 1,307 different types of Rhododendron. The largest collection is in Rhododendron Woodland. The Rhododendrons can also be seen in Spring Walk (East and West) and the Himalayan Valley. Ask at the Visitor Services Desk for a guide to our Rhododendron and Azalea collection.
