Report an issue with roadworks or a road closure
Roadworks are carried out by Hampshire County Council Highways to improve and maintain the Highway. Temporary road closures are sometimes required to ensure that works can take place efficiently and safely, or are put in place in response to an emergency situation.
Information about our planned maintenance, planned road closures and access arrangements.
If your query is regarding equipment and or signs that have been left following roadworks, see the abandoned equipment and signs page.
Responsibility for roadworks and road closures
Third parties, such as utility companies, may carry out roadworks when maintaining or replacing their infrastructure. When a third party is responsible for roadworks, they manage the process. If you have concerns about third party roadworks, it is best to contact the company directly. This will ensure that the enquiry reaches the appropriate party promptly.
Before reporting an issue with roadworks or a road closure, we suggest that you find out who is responsible by searching the One Network map on our planned maintenance page. The map also provides additional information about works such as anticipated dates and the current status. Please note that emergency works may not be detailed on this map.
What not to report
It is unlikely that we will be able to provide any additional information or take any action as a result of reports of the following:
Roadworks during unsocial hours
Where possible we avoid carrying out works during unsocial hours. However, there are occasions when this is unavoidable. If you have noticed works during unsocial hours, it is likely that this is in response to an emergency situation, or due to the nature of the location, it is not possible to carry out the works at another time.
Works that have not started on the date advertised on One Network or information boards
There are occasions when works do not start at the beginning of the advertised period. If the works are being undertaken by a utility company, we are unable to provide further information. Queries should be made to the utility company directly.
Inconvenience caused by Hampshire County Council road closures and diversion routes
Road closures and diversion routes are carefully planned and approved before being put in place. Therefore, it is unlikely that any action will be taken in response to general frustrations resulting from these measures. If however you believe that a road closure is dangerous, please report this to us using the form below.
Progress updates after your report
After submitting your report, you will not receive further updates. If you wish to track the progress of your enquiry or provide additional comments, you can do so using our Status Checker. Please do not report the same issue more than once or contact us for general updates, as this will add further pressure to our services.
