Latest updates

Hampshire County Council appointed Rocon Contractors Ltd to undertake the pedestrian improvement works on Houchin Street and Bank Street in Bishops Waltham.

Works started in September 2025 and completed in October 2025. Please see the completed visuals.

Improvement works will included:

  • footway improvements and widening on Houchin Street and Bank Street
  • construction of uncontrolled crossing points on High Street, Bank Street and Houchin Street

This project supports Hampshire County Council’s Local Transport Plan 4 (LTP4), which aims to improve travel options, make walking and cycling safer, and help people get around more easily in their communities.
Funding Arrangements

Funding for the transport capital delivery schemes is separate from the County Council’s revenue budget and savings proposals.  In the majority of cases funding comes from external grants and / or Section 106 contribution from developers.  This funding usually has conditions that strictly control on how, where and when it can be spent.
