Introducing our new Generalist Graduates

generalist graduates looking at model of Hampshire Record Office

Our Property Services’ Generalist Graduate scheme is a two-year rotational programme, centred around the development and application of generalist skill sets. The programme provides graduates with the opportunity to work across different departments within a thriving public sector organisation. Highly driven and enthusiastic, our generalist graduates bring fresh ideas to areas they work in which include energy and sustainability, business development, digital strategy, communications and marketing, client relationship management, finance and data analysis, project management and more.

Our newest recruits, Ami McCann and Eleni Papadimitriou, joined our team in February 2022 and have hit the ground running. The programme is over-subscribed every year - the reason for its success? Well, here’s what Ami and Eleni say about what attracted them to the role and why they wanted to join our Property Services team:

Eleni “I joined Property Services as a Generalist Graduate, after completing my degree in Psychology at Southampton University. The work variation and on the job experience is what first attracted me to this scheme, as well as the ability to make a positive impact on the local community.

"My current placement is based in the Energy Team, where I will be supporting the ‘Do Your Energy Bit’ (DYEB) behavioural change programme and researching various Energy Management Systems. I will also be involved in supporting the wider Property Services’ climate change strategy.

“I am looking forward to new challenges and progressing my career within Property Services.” Eleni

Ami “The Generalist Graduate scheme really stood out to me as a great opportunity to work on projects making a positive impact to the county while developing my career in local government.

"For my first of four six-month placements, I am working in the Technical Standards team. Part of my role is focused on scoping the compliance reporting requirements across all risk areas for council properties to help develop the Property Services Risk Management Strategy. I have also jointly begun looking at the management of compliance in the council’s surplus buildings. The aim of this project is to produce a clear maintenance schedule for our surplus and vacant sites.

“I am looking forward to collaborating with colleagues across the organisation to help make a difference to the community.” Ami

Welcome to the team, Eleni and Ami.
