What does the DofE Award cost?

When you have found a place at a DofE Centre, you will be enrolled onto your Award programme. The enrolment costs for Hampshire County Council groups are

Current fees (as of 1 July 2023):

  • Bronze Award – £35 (Welcome Pack cost: £25.50, HCC Admin fee: £9.50)
  • Silver Award – £35 (Welcome Pack cost: £25.50, HCC Admin fee: £9.50)
  • Gold Award – £42 (Welcome Pack cost: £32.50, HCC Admin fee: £9.50)

These fees include an administration charge.

What happens once I’ve signed up?

Your DofE Leader will email you a link to your eDofE account. This is where you log your progress through your DofE programme and where your Leader checks and approves you’ve completed your activity in each section.

Once you’ve added your home address to your eDofE profile you’ll be sent a Welcome Pack with lots of helpful information and your personalised DofE Card so you can access discounts and offers on expedition kit and other items. If your pack doesn’t arrive, you can download the contents here.

Now, you can start choosing what activities you want to do and decide your goals – although you don’t have to wait until you get your Welcome Pack before you start planning your programme.

Once you’ve chosen your Assessors and your Leader has approved your plans, you’re ready to get going with your activities.

Additional costs

The Hampshire DofE Award is run by volunteers to keep costs to a minimum. DofE Centres will support you through your Award programme and often deliver expedition activities directly. Charges can vary between centres, so ask for more information.

Activities

The activities you choose for your Award will cost extra. You might want to budget for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, or choose a low-cost programme of activities in your local community.

Equipment

Specialist expedition equipment can be expensive. If you don't wish to purchase your own equipment, most can be hired through your DofE Centre. Ask your DofE Leader for more information.
