Become a ranger, with the New Forest National Park

Are you interested in how a National Park is managed and maintained? Are you interested in finding out more about the special and unique qualities the New Forest National Park has?

This residential experience will work closely with a wide variety of national park staff to visit and experience the special qualities of the New Forest National Park, meet some of the staff and volunteers who help to look after it and get involved in practical habitat management tasks. You will also gain skills undertaking practical habitat and estate management tasks and hone wildlife identification. This residential is being run in partnership between the New Forest National Park and Hampshire County Council

Become a Zoo Keeper at Dartmoor Zoo

Hampshire DofE, in conjunction with Dartmoor Zoo (the home of 'We Bought a Zoo'), offer a unique 5 night zoo keeper's residential.

This enjoyable opportunity is perfect for anyone with a passion for animals and nature conservation, or looking to study in a related area.

Earth, Wind and Fire – Yoga and walking retreat

A 5 day yoga and walking residential for young people doing their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's award, located in the heart of the Brecon Beacons.

  • Each day starts with a yoga class before breakfast
  • Practice yoga postures (asanas), breathing awareness (pranayama) and meditation, based on Patanjali's 8-limbs of yoga
  • An introduction to the philosophy and history of yoga
  • Daily walks to one of the many beautiful locations in the Brecon Beacons
  • Afternoon yoga sessions
  • Evening gathering and meditation
