The Advanced Ranger Academy Course is specially designed for DofE Gold Award students who are interested in a career in the animal industry. The course content provides students with exclusive opportunities including working with the Yorkshire Wildlife Park (YWP) veterinary surgeon and behind the scenes access. The department has won British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) education awards for the Ranger Academy course. Students will also get the chance to work with the YWP staff team across all animal sections.

- Wellness and Fitness Week

A 5-day wellness and fitness residential for young people doing their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's award, you'll get to experience daily classes focusing on core strength, stamina, alignment and awareness of good posture. Daily classes will include a range of pilates, yoga, relaxation, resistance bands and body weight exercises to strengthen and tone. Each day will involve a daily stretch routine and we will get your legs moving with local sun rise run/walks located in the heart of Hampshire at Stubbington Study Centre.

The New Forest, Minstead Study Centre

- Helping to give parts of the site better wheelchair access - creating and improving the existing paths to improve access to wheelchair bound visitors
- Building raised beds and containers around the site
- Planting seeds, bulbs and plants in the raised beds for all to enjoy

- Transport (if required) from Southampton train station to Minstead Study Centre on the first and last day
What's involved?
This project aims to improve access to parts of the Centre’s 7 acre site for the thousands of visitors that stay at the Centre each year. This involves physical outdoor work with our site team, and might include:
- Helping to give parts of the site better wheelchair access - creating and improving the existing paths to improve access to wheelchair bound visitors
- Work on creating a new bridge, new outdoor shelter and / or seating area
- Work in and around our pond and stream to aid access
- Grounds work in and around our large vegetable garden (creating or maintaining raised beds and compost areas)
This project is about the land. As well as working on the site on the specific landscaping projects, participants will:
- Spend some time harvesting and processing food from the large Centre allotment to use in the meals eaten on the course
- Spend a day out in the New Forest on a local hike, meeting forest rangers and others involved in the management of this special area

Cancellations made within 6 weeks of the start of the residential: participants are liable for the full fee, no refund will be available.
Cancellation before 6 weeks of the start date of the residential: Hampshire Outdoors will reimburse the client 50%.
Cancellation before 12 weeks of the start date of the residential: Hampshire Outdoors will reimburse the client 90%.
